Hello, we are Kat and Rachel! Thank you for being interested in our family and taking the time to learn more about us.


We met in 2013 while Rachel was in grad school, and Kat was working. On our first date, we went out for coffee and tea and talked about our shared love of travel. We had so much fun we ended up spending the entire day getting to know each other! After that, we saw each other nearly every day and quickly fell in love. In 2015, we got married in the mountains of Virginia, surrounded by our family and friends, with our dogs as ring bearers!

When I first met Rachel, I was immediately drawn to her genuine, warm personality and brilliant smile. She is incredibly funny and is always making everyone around her laugh. You can see how kind and loving she is in all the little things she does every day. Rachel always stops to help turtles cross the road, she surprises me by cooking one of my favorite foods even though she doesn't like it, and is always the first to volunteer when a friend or neighbor needs help.


Her job as a veterinarian lets her see all kinds of animals, from cats and dogs to giraffes and eagles! Her...

The first things anyone notices about Kat are her lighthearted personality, sharp wit, and compassion for those around her. Kat is incredibly patient, and I love how she can keep a positive attitude even in stressful situations.


Kat is a special education teacher, and you can see her face light up when she talks about her students, especially when sharing all of the progress they make. She has an innate ability to connect quickly with children, inspire them to learn and grow and overcome their challenges. Her passion for working with kids is truly inspiring. Seeing this...

Our home is full of laughter and fun. When you walk in, you will be greeted by our friendly dog, Hira, and our curious daughter, who will be eager to share a new favorite book or toy with you. We share our home with a variety of pets since Rachel is a veterinarian. We love to cook and eat meals together! Whenever we are cooking, our daughter wants to be in the kitchen sniffing the spice jars and helping mix ingredients. We have a big yard with a fire pit for making s'mores, a swing set, and a vegetable garden, and lots of blackberry bushes! We enjoy watching the birds that come to our...

There are many things that we love to do together! We enjoy playing board games and pickleball, hiking along the Appalachian mountains, trying new foods, and traveling the world to experience different cultures and lifestyles.


We also have individual hobbies and passions. Kat is a lover of puzzles, reading, cooking, scuba diving, skiing, and backpacking. She also does a lot of arts and crafts like jewelry making, painting, and felting. Her favorite holiday is Halloween. When October comes, our house is covered in spooky decorations, and we always have a family costume....

First of all, we want to say thank you. Thank you for choosing to learn more about us and for bringing this child into the world. We cannot wait to open our hearts, arms, and home to another child. We promise to provide a loving, caring, stable home that will support them throughout their life and help them become who they are meant to be.

Our Favorites

We adopted our first child, Ellery, in 2020. Watching her grow has been one of the greatest joys of our lives. She is kind, curious, and determined. Ellery loves animals, ice cream, arts and crafts, cooking, and visiting new places. She is very excited about the idea of having a sibling and frequently asks questions about when she can play a game with them or if they will like the same things she does. We hope that Ellery and our next child will grow up to be close, and we look forward to helping them foster that relationship.
